At Positive Nature, the vision and practice of all interactions with children and youth are grounded in a belief in the power of a positive peer culture. Building on Harry Vorrath and Larry Brendtro's work with Positive Peer Culture, Positive Nature has adopted the notion that "young people are profoundly influenced by associations with their peers. Too often the peer group has been viewed only as a liability; too seldom has it been seen as a resource. Just as peer group influence can foster problems, so also can the peer process be used to solve problems".

teaches peers to assume responsibility for helping each other
believes that "rebellious and strong -willed individuals" can be redirected and have a lot to offer others who have also had difficulty in their lives
teaches basic values vs. rules
places many demands and high expectations on children and youth. It is not a "laid back" approach
